5 Genius Terrarium Designs That Will Blow Your Mind

When it comes to building your own terrarium, starting simple is best, but the more you make, the more you can experiment. With enough time and dedication, you can get to a freakish-level of terrarium creativity rivalled only by a hardcore few.

If you’re just starting your terrarium journey, or you’re a seasoned pro who wants to take their mini-garden game to another level, then you have come to the right place for inspiration. Check out our top 5 favourite terrarium creations, from the beautiful to the delightfully bizarre.

  1. Classic Movie Scenes

Proof that terrariums are not just a hobby for your green-fingered grandma. Since you’re the one building it, you can create whatever you want. Recreating a classic scene from your favourite movie will take your terrarium from pretty to pretty damn cool in an instant. All you need is a few figurines and a bit of imagination. Personally, we are huge fans of these Star Wars themed mini gardens.

  1. Crazy Containers

We love how this teapot terrarium turned out. But if you don’t have an abundance of glass teapots lying around your house, you can add an equal amount of character to your terrarium by using a lightbulb, French press, Christmas bauble, and anything else made of glass that takes your fancy.

  1. Political Statements

Terrariums don’t all have to be relaxing mini-worlds of tranquillity. Maybe you want to use yours to bring focus to issues close to your heart. Like the rising price of Freddos or the shock cancellation of Neighbours. This protest scene is one of our favourites, it’s not something that instantly springs to mind when you think of terrariums, but it is pure genius.

  1. Nice and Niche-y

Maybe it’s Halloween, maybe you are just one sick puppy. Whatever your motivations, we love this graveyard themed terrarium; a darker take on desktop gardens that makes great use of terrarium moss. It could use a couple of zombies in there though.

  1. Terrarium Yourself!

Adding a personal touch your terrarium makes it much more unique to you, and you can’t get more personal than dedicating your bottled garden to your family. Recreate an outdoor spot that hold memories for the family, then add mini versions of you to the scene. If you can’t find figurines that match your family, you can order personalised lego figures that will create bespoke characters for you.
